WHAT WE DO
CALO has been established as a sustainable enterprise based upon a very simple business model, designed to run with
minimal administrative overhead. This ensures that the maximum proportion of any sponsorship goes towards planting trees or reinvestment in associated education
programmes.
CALO aims to provide a simple, sound, ethical mechanism that works for all its stakeholders. Run by a dedicated team of
enthusiasts, we understand the rural landscape and what it means to those that live and work within it.
CALO operates 2 schemes:
WHO WE ARE
CALO owes its existence primarily to vision of Sarah Ewbank and Crispin Scott who decided
that such a scheme was necessary after hearing that a local Primary School had declared itself to be 'carbon neutral' after planting ten saplings!
All members of the CALO team have a deep interest in
trees, and their role within the rural environment.
PRINCIPLE PROFILES
Sarah Ewbank MLI DipLA BSc worked on a wide range of both national and international
projects for the renowned landscape architecture practice of Colvin and Moggridge, before establishing her own Landscape Design business based in the heart of rural Gloucestershire with client
list that includes Oxford University, and a wide range of commercial and private clients across the South West of England and the Home Counties. Educated in Horticulture and Landscape
Architecture at the University of Bath, Sarah has developed her passion for, and knowledge of, plants and trees over 25 years, lecturing on the subject as far afield as Japan. Sarah keeps
sheep and chickens, is an experienced engineer, and accomplished artist, author, electrician, plumber, chorister and church bellringer.
Sarah describes herself as "a very practical person with 'green' tendencies"! Her widely aclaimed book 'STONEHENGE - Temple, Cipher, Roof' ** illustrates a refreshing willingness to challenge popular myth and pseudo-science.
Crispin Scott MBA MIoD has lived and worked across Africa, Europe and the Middle East in
some of the world's toughest working environments. He has held a range of senior posts in both public and private sectors, and his experience in emerging economies has led
to a close interest in social entrepreneurship and sustainable enterprise. Brought up on a farm in Suffolk, Crispin has always retained a love of the countryside and jumped at the chance to help
develop CALO. Crispin holds an MBA from Exeter University School of Business and Economics, and
has lectured at Warwick Business School, Mercia Institute for Enterprise, and the UK Defence Academy. He is a member UK's Institute of Directors and the Woodland Trust.
